Protest in East Bakersfield, Following the Death of Toddler

"No justice, no peace! Get these baby killers off our streets!" That was the chant that protesters chanted in response to the Monday death of a toddler outside of a home in East Bakersfield on Thursday evening.

According to the Kern County Sheriff's Office, deputies were dispatched for a child who was not breathing on Monday, but the child passed away before the deputies arrived.

"We love you Ezekiel, you didn't deserve this." read one of the signs held by the protesters on Thursday, which referred to the child by his or her first and last names, Ezekiel and Zekey.

"Turn yourself in" read another protest sign. At least one protest sign specifically mentioned dealers in fentanyl.

23ABC might want to underscore that the Kern District Coroner's Office has not yet delivered an causeof death for the baby.

The child's family has not yet responded to requests for comment as of yet.
